Alixe Durand Saint Guillain is a freelance lyric soprano and stage director. Born in France, she is now based in Leipzig and Genève.

In 2022, She graduated from Stockholm University of the Arts/Operahögskolan with a master’s degree in Opera Vocal Performance. For her graduation production, she performed as La Fée in excerpts of Massenet’s Cendrillon with Gävle Symphony Orchestra. That same year, she was awarded the Sigvard och Marianne Bernadotte Art Foundation Scholarship. She is currently studying with Regina Werner-Dietrich and Royal Court Singer Anita Soldh, and is being mentored by Henrikka Gröhndal, as part of Musik-Alliansen Mentorship Programme.

In 2023, she sung the role of Röschen in Ethel Smyth’s Der Wald in TD Berlin, in a production of operationderkuenste. She was also a finalist, region Switzerland, at the prestigious Voix Nouvelles competition .

As a stage director, Alixe has assisted on several opera productions in Switzerland (Opéra de Lausanne, Neue Oper Freiburg,Théâtre du Galpon), France (Opéra national de Lorraine, Théâtre de la Croix-Rousse) and Ireland (Irish National Opera). She recently directed the revival of Julien Chavaz’s production of Rossini’s Guillaume Tell at the NOF-Nouvel Opéra Fribourg to great acclaim. Future engagements will bring her to Theater Magdeburg and back to the Opéra national de Lorraine, working with Pinar Karabulut and Fanny Gilbert-Collet.

For her own projects, she likes to experiment with pluridisciplinary forms and is currently working on a serie of sound installations about women characters in the operatic canon. She has also written and directed theatre plays and art performances. In 2020, she received her master’s degree in Philosophy, specialized in aesthetics and visual cultures, from the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, with a thesis about non-narrative structures in the performing arts and the philosophy of Susanne K. Langer.
