The french lyric soprano Alixe Durand Saint Guillain graduated from the Stockholm University College of the Arts’ Opera Department/Operahögskolan. She finished her master’s degree in Opera Vocal Performance with a production in Gävle Theatre in June 2022, where she performed as La Fée in an excerpt of Cendrillon by Massenet, together with Gävle Symphony Orchestra. During her studies, she performed as Lucia in excerpts of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lamermoor, and studied the full part of Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto.

Born in Grenoble, she is currently based in both Leipzig (Germany) and Genève (Switzerland). She is studying with Regina Werner-Dietrich and Royal Court Singer Anita Soldh. Her vocal teacher at Operahögskolan was Ulrika Tenstam.

In March 2023, she will be Röschen in operationderkuenste’s new production of Ethel Smyth’s Der Wald in Berlin.

Alixe has been awarded the 2022 Sigvard and Marianne Bernadotte Art Foundation Scholarship and received the Förderpreis der Stadt Torgau at the 2022 Internationale Sächsische Sängerakademie. She has also been supported in her studies by a scholarship from The Royal Swedish Musical Academy Local Scholarship – the Ekström Fund in 2021.

She had the opportunities to study with singers such as KS Prof. Edda Moser, John Lundgren, Daniel Lichti, Kate Aldrich, Prof. Hans-Joachim Beyer, Prof. Caroline Stein, Prof. Roland Schubert. Among the conductors she has worked with are Jonas Dominique, Sesto Quatrini, George Petrou, and Bernard Têtu. She has worked with directors such as Wilhelm Carlsson, Stina Ancker and Alain Garichot.

She was a third-prize winner at the 94th Concours International de Musique Leopold Bellan, and was semi-finalist in several other competitions such as the the Concorso Internazionale di Canto Lirico Vox Mutinae “Nicolaj Ghiaurov” 2021, the Concours international de Chant de Marmande 2020 and the Concours Jeunes Espoirs Raymond Duffaut in Avignon in 2016.

During her time in France, Alixe notably performed the role of Leontine in the French premiere of Wagner’s Die Glüclkichen Bären Familie with the Orchestre symphonique Lyon-Clermont, and was a cover for the soprano solo part of Dvorak’s Stabat Mater with conductor Bernad Têtu.

At the Conservatoire de Lyon, Alixe studied singing with Marcin Habela, chamber music with Alain Jacquon and Laetitia Bougnol as well as music history with Jérôme Dorival, and graduated from each discipline with honors.

A proficient recitalist, Alixe has performed several art songs recitals with pianists Louise Mezzapesa and Buke Gao, in concert houses and festivals such as the Prieuré de Chirens, Festival Tempo Vivace, Festival Sons d’Hiver, Goethe Institut of Lyon, Médiathèque de Vaise, Théâtre de la Croix-Rousse. Her concert repertoire is mainly focused on Scandinavian and Slavic repertoire, as well as 19th and 20th centuries German repertoire. In 2019, she and Buke Gao were selected to participate in the prestigious International Chamber Music Competition of Lyon, as part of the duo Neige.

Interested in all forms of performing, her stage experience also includes roles in theatre plays, short movies, art performances as well as runway shows.
